The listed parts are for the “E” series square-tub style, but Maytag center-assembly parts have remained remarkably consistent for round-tub models since the 1940s, except for the 1564 tub gasket. Select the 15639-cork gasket for these older models that do not have the tub gasket tub groove.

Tip-Tub Bolt Removal: To remove the old gulmite-head tub bolts without buying a wrench, use a Dremel grinder to grind flat-blade screwdriver slots in the old heads. Use the BWS20 tub bolt replacement kit to replace the existing stainless hex-head bolts.
Tip-Agitator Removal: If the agitator hasn't been removed in a while, you will need an agitator puller (38323). Instead of buying one, check out the homemade puller photo from one of our customers.
Tip-Agitator Spline Replacement: You will need a bearing press or a large floor stand drill press to press the agitator spline into the agitator. Check with local machine shops if you don't have access to either one.
The Amish relied on these old wringer washers, as most Americans did in the early 1900s, until modern spin-cycle machines were developed. As manufacturing and replacement parts advanced, the Amish began to have difficulty obtaining parts to maintain the wringer washers. So, they began manufacturing their own supply of replacement Maytag parts as they still do today. Cottage Craft Works.com takes a step back in time to help people who are still using or restoring the vintage home and farm equipment acquire replacement parts.
The washer parts listed are the most sought-after Maytag parts. Our Amish shop can procure or fabricate just about any part used on round or square tub machines. Since the Amish convert most machines to gas, air, or DC motors, they don’t manufacture new electric motors. They also don’t use the drain pump, allowing the washer to gravity-drain instead. If you need an electric motor or water pump, we can source a used takeoff. Just email us to check the availability of any parts we don’t list.
International customers, please email us with the parts that you need, and we will calculate the shipping cost and send you a PayPal invoice in US Dollars. Duties and taxes will still be due to your country upon delivery.
Parts ship directly from an Amish-owned business without computers; please expect some orders to take up to two weeks to ship. Most parts are in stock, but some may need to be manufactured.
