About Cottage Craft Works
Cottage Craft Works, is really, truly that unique general store you used to remember going to when you were a kid, picking out the candy at the counter and ogling at all of the new equipment that had just come in from the nearest big city on the back of a Ford pickup truck. We've just modernized things a bit, so you know, you can view it from the comfort of your home.
Cottage Craft Works is a small family business run by Paul and Liz Stevens. For over 35 years, Paul and Liz have bought and used Amish-made products for their own country back-to-basics lifestyle, while helping others also locate special products. They explored and mapped the Amish country back roads in Indiana and Ohio--seeking out different self-sustaining products used in home food preservation, gardening and frugal living for themselves and their friends. As they met new friends, those connections lead to more contacts over in Pennsylvania and New York. They were intrigued with the simple lifestyle and quality products the Amish produced. They quickly became dedicated to helping the small cottage-based businesses help share their products with others. With the encouragement of family and friends, Cottage Craft Works was born to help others find good old-fashioned, American-made products.
While a large majority of the products are Amish-made, Cottage Craft Works also promotes products from many other non-Amish small businesses. Our roots began in the Hunting and game calls, but with over 2000 products, Cottage Craft Works has developed into what some say is the equivalent of browsing through an early 1900s Sears and Roebuck catalog.
We hope you enjoy our store; we have tried to provide a lot of historical information on many of our products, when they were invented or on how they originated. Our shopping cart is on a secure monitored site. We never store credit card information on our site. We don’t spam our customers or bother them unless we have an update or question on an order. Feel free to browse and shop, you don’t need to sign in but if you do decide to purchase, rest assured, we are not going to share your information or load your inbox with “spam deals of the week”. Many of our products are also custom-made to your specifications. For example, our custom carved gun stocks which were featured in the March 2011 issue of Outdoor Life Magazine! Be sure to ask us if customization is possible on the products you’re looking at.
