Discover the heritage and practical charm of the Amish-made Maytag Wringer Washer Butter Churn Attachment — a high-quality reproduction of a classic Maytag accessory that brings fresh, homemade butter to your kitchen with minimal fuss. Designed to fit Maytag E, J, and N wringer washer models, this churn attachment repurposes your antique or restored washer into a reliable homestead dairy tool.

Heritage Meets Practical Performance
In the early 20th century, innovative households sought ways to enhance their electric wringer washers with multifunction accessories like meat grinders and butter churns — turning one machine into a hub of daily chores. Our Amish-crafted churn box honors that legacy with a simplified, highly effective design suited to modern homesteads.

Fast, Easy Butter Making
The churn box holds a wide-mouth Mason jar (sold with select options) and connects easily to your wringer washer’s shaft after removing the agitator. Simply fill the jar with room-temperature cream and let the machine’s gentle rocking motion do the work. You’ll have rich, creamy homemade butter in ~10–15 minutes — about 50% faster than traditional hand churns.

Built for Durability and Ease
With straightforward mechanics and widely available Mason jars, cleanup is simple and spare parts are easy to source — especially appealing to vintage appliance enthusiasts and those embracing self-sufficient living. Available in single- and double-jar configurations, this butter churn attachment adds authenticity and utility to your farmhouse, cabin, or collection of antique Maytag parts.

Perfect for Collectors and Homesteaders
Whether you’re restoring a prized vintage wringer washer or enhancing your homestead kitchen with reliable dairy equipment, this attachment makes a meaningful addition. Its combination of heritage appeal, practical performance, and ease of use appeals to collectors, advocates of traditional living, and sustainable food producers alike.

More Information

In the 1930s, times were hard. Families had to scrape to get by, and many were forced to do without the basics, including food and shoes. At that time, a washing machine would have been considered a big-ticket luxury item that families just could not afford.

The Rural Electrification Act of 1936 also brought electricity to rural families, helping them improve their daily lives by replacing manual labor with electric-powered appliances.

The Maytag Corporation offered accessories for its wringer washing machines to justify the purchase, allowing families to multitask household chores with a single electrically operated machine.

The butter churn was one of the accessories they offered. Although our Amish reproduction butter churn is not even close to the massive original butter churn that Maytag offered. In today’s dollars, the original butter churn would probably cost several hundred dollars. It was difficult to clean and was limited to E-model square-tub machines.

Our Amish version, featuring a hard plastic box that holds a two-quart Mason Jar, is simple and easy to use. It works on all the Maytag E, J, and N Wringer Washing Machines. Remove the agitator, slide the box onto the shaft, fill your Wide Mouth Mason jar with room-temperature cream, turn on the washing machine, and monitor the results. These churns make butter 50% quicker than a traditional hand-crank churn.

The back-and-forth rocking motion will make butter in about 10-15 minutes.  Their use of wide-mouth Mason Jars is ingenious, making them easy to clean and sanitize. Like the Amish, it is simple and easy to source spares if you want to make butter and store it in a jar.

You must use the Mason brand 2-qt jar.

We sell the unit with and without the jars, as most modern home canning uses the 1-qt Mason Jars and may not have 2-qt jars. They are readily available online.

Units are available as a single Mason Jar (up to 2 quarts) or a double Mason Jar (up to 4 quarts).

On the double unit, if you don’t want to make a double batch, you will need to fill the opposite side with water to balance the unit.

The unit is priced as a single model, excluding the jar. Select models with or without jars using custom options; prices increase incrementally from the single model without a jar.

Please allow 2-3 weeks to ship.

Please note that these are only for the Maytag old-time wringer washing machine models E, J, and N. Butter churns will not fit other wringer washers or modern spin-drying machines.
