White Mountain Freezer Replacement Electric Head
White Mountain improved the replacement motor by Oakware.
White Mountain discontinued production of ice cream freezers and replacement parts in 2020. This left a massive void for an economical replacement motor. The Oakware motor was developed as an economical, exact replacement for the 4- and 6-qt White Mountain freezers manufactured from the 1990s through 2020. (Primarily the dark green motors)
The Oakware motor has several improvements that address issues with the White Mountain motors. It uses bronze bushings, improved double-acting gears, and a newly designed motor for greater efficiency and durability. The 1200 RPM 1.1 Amp motor is powerful enough to restart after adding extra ingredients toward the end of the batches.
It will also fit older White Mountain 4 and 6 qt freezers with a cream color motor that has an 11-1/2 to 11-5/8 tub diameter and a 7/16” dasher stem that fits up into the motor and drives the dasher. Use a 7/16” open-end wrench to determine your dasher stem size as shown in the picture. (Some modifications and adjustments to the tub ear, latch, and tub center might be needed)
The motor will fit Immergood 6-qt fiberglass freezers sold with White Mountain Motors, as well as current 4- and 6-qt Immergood poly tub freezers.
This motor can still be used on the 3/8" dasher with limitations (see below.)

Description / White Mountain Freezer Replacement Electric Head
The White Mountain motors only spun the can around while the dasher remained stationary. The Oakware motor spins the dasher in the opposite direction, and the inner dasher spins with the can, making it a triple-action motor like hand cranking.
Noise-wise, the Oakware motor will be as loud as the White Mountain Motors. If noise is a concern when making ice cream indoors, you might want to consider replacing it with the Immergood motor. Click Here for more information. An Immergood DC-powered tool battery motor is also available. Click Here for more details.
Oakware provides a one-year warranty. The motor is made in China, while the Immergood motor is made in the US.
Note: The Oakware motor has an internal shutoff if it overheats; however, unlike the original White Mountain Motors, it is not intended to indicate when the ice cream is done and automatically shuts off. You will need to time your batches to the target hardness and shut off the motor before it reaches the thermal shutdown.
Oakware motor replaces newer Dark Green and Dark Brown White Mountain 4 and 6 qt electric motors fitting on an 11-1/2"- 11-5/8 diameter tub, a 7/16" dasher stem, and a 1" square top on the freezer can lid. (The actual size of the freezer can lid drive will be 15/16") (The motor gear frame openings are sized larger to slide over the top without binding.) This is the same with Oakware motors. Making them interchangeable. (See notes below about the Appalachian series tub ears and tub latches)
Some of the older cream color motors, depending on when they were made, will still interchange with the Oakware motor as long as the tub diameter is 11-1/2"- 11-5/8" with a 7/16” dasher stem and a 1" square can lid top. You may want to upgrade to the Immergood tub latch and tub ear. See more below on those selections.
Freezers with a 3/8" dasher note: This motor can be used on older White Mountain and Lifetime freezers with a 3/8" dasher, provided the tub diameter is 11-1/2" to 11-5/8". The dasher will have some play, and over time, it may round the dasher stem to the point that the motor no longer spins the dasher. For years, White Mountain sold these motors to customers who used them on the older 3/8" dasher freezers. Lifetime freezers also used them on 3/8" dashers. This is a risk-benefit decision about whether still to use an economy motor on an older freezer. We wanted to point this out, as neither the Oakware manufacturer nor we can take responsibility should it happen in a freezer. You can also upgrade to the Immergood motor adapted to a 3/8" dasher as another option.
If you are replacing an Appalachian series motor or an older cream-color motor on an 11-5/8" tub, we do recommend replacing at least the tub latch and, better yet, matching the tub ear with the Immergood brand. If your bolts and nuts are still in good condition, you shouldn’t need new ones; they are also available via the drop-down menu. (Riveted tub ears and latches will need to be drilled and replaced with stainless steel bolts and nuts. If your tub is just under the 11-1/2" diameter or the new motor fits tight, you may need to add shims under the tub ear and tub latch. We found that shims cut from a 5-gallon paint pail are just the right thickness, as shown in the pictures.
One of the chief complaints about the White Mountain tub latches in later years was that they were poorly made or failed to hold the motor down. The Immergood latches will serve you well, with little to no adjustment required for the new motor to fit. Some of the later Appalachian series White Mountain freezers had a slightly different tub ear and tub latch that may need replacement, or, if not, modification to fit the wider tabs.
The White Mountain freezer parts are like building blocks that cascade from top to bottom. It is not as simple as replacing the dasher with a newer 7/16” stem dasher because it is made to fit a 1/2” stud at the bottom of the freezer can, which, if you have a 3/8” dasher, then that new 7/16 dasher will not fit in the old can that has a 3/8” stud in the bottom of it.
