These old-time wooden wheelbarrows add a touch of nostalgic charm to your yard or garden, or to retail businesses. Add the plant liner to create a flower box, or display fresh-cut flowers in your flower shop.
These are working replicas of the wheelbarrows used in the 1800s and early 1900s, before items were fabricated from sheet metal. They are so authentic that they have been used in movies and in historical parks. The pictures at the bottom show a vintage wheelbarrow for comparison.

Description / Old Fashioned Wheelbarrows
These very popular wheelbarrows are custom-built with each order. Please allow 6-12 weeks for shipping.
Wood options include rough and premium-grade smooth. Wheel options include metal or authentic wood spoke wheels. Priced as a small rough-cut barrow with a metal wheel. (Large rough cut with metal wheel pictured unfinished).

The unfinished large wheelbarrow (Pictured) is considered the "Rough Grade". It comes with kiln-dried, planed poplar wood, just as you would purchase at the lumberyard. With additional sanding, you can achieve a furniture-grade finish. The wooden side hubs on the wooden wheels are turned separately from the wheels; when assembled, they appear to be one-piece hubs.
The Wheelbarrow can be just stained, just varnished, stained and varnished, or painted.
Varnish or paint options include two coats of 3300 high-grade two-part urethane varnish or a coat of primer followed by a coat of paint. Select options and stain and paint colors using the drop-down boxes.
Sizes:
Small measures 41” Long X 14-1/12 Wide X 15” High, with an 11-1/2” wheel.
Medium measures 55” long X 19” Wide X 21” High, with a 15” wheel.
Large measures 70” long x 24” wide x 27” High, with a 19” wheel.
Add Hand-Painting on the sides for family names, gift dates, special occasions, business names, etc. Select a size to view the cost in the drop-down menu. Leave a message of what you would like to have hand-painted on one side of your wheelbarrow in the comment box at the very end of checkout.
The plant liner is made of heavy-gauge galvanized metal. The liner fits over the sides of the wheelbarrow. It is designed to allow plant pots to stand upright, fully displaying your plants. This design provides drainage between the contact surfaces. This allows the wood to dry below the liner, helping prevent wood rot.
