More Information
Butter Churns are manufactured in Ohio, USA, by an Amish company. The churns carry a 5-year warranty on the stainless-steel housing, the shaft, and paddles.
These churns are sold for home and small-dairy use. While this does not preclude use in small commercial applications, use should be approved by local health and dairy inspectors, and the churn must be cleaned and sanitized in accordance with posted requirements for milk house cleaning and sanitation. You should also check with your local dairy inspection or health authority for approvals, permits, and other requirements for commercial use of a butter churn.
The paddle unit is completely removable from the churn for cleaning and sanitizing. You will need a long, round brush to clean the tube that runs through the paddle.
For home use, the churn must be disassembled before cleaning. Use hot dish soap and rinse with hot water, then allow the parts to air-dry before storing.
While the 3-A Sanitary Standards Committees, in conjunction with the U.S.D.A does not have published specific requirements for small-batch butter churns. They do, however, provide guidelines for construction and the materials from which churns should be made. This includes the 304 stainless steel and USDA-approved materials.
