USA | Stoneware Butter Churn | 1-Gallon

Old-fashioned handmade stoneware butter churns are still made in the USA, just as they were in earlier times. Each piece is hand-turned by a master potter, hand-painted or finished, and then coated with a lead-free glaze.

Personalization and hand-painting options are available to make heirloom family gifts or historical displays.

Many of our old-fashioned reproduction churns are so authentic that they are being used in demonstrations and classes at living history museums.

Churns are still functional for making butter. Churns are lead and cadmium-free!

Stoneware Pottery is USA-made in Texas by a small, family-owned and operated pottery company that has been making quality pottery for over 22 years.  Each piece is hand turned by a master potter, hand-painted or finished, and then coated with a lead-free glaze.

Butter churns are available in plain white or blue stripes. The white will match the blue stripe products. Depending on its position in the kiln, the actual colors may range from cream to white, with a slight grayish hue—another characteristic of old-fashioned hand-turned pottery.

Because pottery is hand turned, dimensions may vary slightly. Stoneware pottery may also develop minor imperfections during firing and glazing.  All food contact surfaces are inspected for such imperfections before shipping. The exterior may have imperfections that add to the stoneware's character.

Lids for stoneware pottery are made in the same way as the old ones and then fired. To fire them, some of the bottoms are left unglazed and will sit in the kiln. This is normal, so they do not stick during the process. The original lids were made the same way as those on antique crocks and churns.

Please note that, due to the long handle, the churn ships in a tall box and is subject to dimensional oversized shipping costs.
