Important Usage Notes

This reel mower excels in regularly maintained, shorter turf. It is less suited for heavy weeds, brush, thick sticks, or grass taller than 3″. For rough terrain or tall growth, a rotary or flail mower may be more effective.

Our Amish reel gang mowers use heat-treated, hardened bed knives and reels. Height-adjustable from about 0.5” to 3”, making them perfect for Southern short-grass Bermuda lawns. 

Trailing gang reel mowers are equipped with double pin-style hitches, allowing the heads to float along the lawn. The 5-gang mower will cut a 92” path.

Reel mowers are not for every mowing solution. They do not perform well in weeds with thick stems, in fields with dirt mounds, or in timbered areas with dense leaves and sticks. They will also bog down in deep grass over 3 inches.

The Mascot reel mowers are made in China under strict guidelines set by the Amish company, which personally inspects, sharpens, and tunes each one before it ships to a customer. Clipper mowers are all made in the USA.

The Clipper Reel Mower is the Cadillac-Mercedes of reel mowers. It is all USA-made by the Amish using USA-made parts. The reel has riveted blades, and the bed-knife is higher-quality US steel, extra-tempered for the longest-lasting sharpness. The Bed-Knife and spiral reels were patterned from the vintage Scotts Silent mowers. It is also the most expensive reel mower.  Despite the price, it is also the most popular among the Amish and non-Amish. Clipper is our best seller.

Mascot Silent Reel Mowers use all imported parts and are assembled overseas. It is strictly quality-controlled by an Amish company that personally inspects, sharpens, and tunes each one before it ships to a customer. The Amish company developed it from the vintage Scotts Silent mowers. Many of the parts interchange with the old Scott mowers. It is a popular mower, with high satisfaction among both Amish and non-Amish who seek long-term durability and performance. We received numerous calls asking why we did not carry Mascot Mowers, so we reviewed them and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. We categorize it as a Buick reel mower and price it in the mid-range of Amish reel mowers.
