Stainless 10 Gallon Commercial Butter Churn – Engineered for Small Dairy Excellence
Elevate your butter-making operation with this 10-gallon stainless steel commercial butter churn, engineered specifically for small dairy farms, co-ops, and artisan butter producers. Built in the USA by Sunrise Metal (Amish-owned, established in 1971), this unit combines high-performance design and food-safety standards so you can churn with confidence.
Engineered for commercial dairy productivity: the 1 HP variable-speed motor begins forming butter in just 8-10 minutes and completes a batch in 20-30 minutes (depending on cream fat content)—speed range from 0 to slow processing.
Sanitary design built for food-service & dairy compliance: welded stainless steel joints, tri-clamp sight glass, removable paddles for full wash-out, and a 1½” butterfly valve front wash-out elbow.
- Flexible capacity: Though rated at 10 gallons full capacity, as little as 4 gallons can be churned. Making it ideal for growing dairy operations. (internal dimensions inside tub: 12″ wide × 22-1/2″ long × 19″ deep; overall machine size 50-1/2″L × 18″W × 22″H; weight ≈ 135 lbs.).
Designed for ease of maintenance: paddle and bearing assemblies slide out through tri-clamp connections for full-sanitation; variable speed allows both processing and wash-out without the lid.
Ideal for artisanal butter makers, micro-dairies, farm shops, and small commercial operations. Whether you’re churning creamy 30% butterfat cream or exploring flavor-infused butter batches (think honey-cinnamon, roasted garlic-pepper, herbed dill), this churn delivers premium output with efficiency and repeatability.
- Motor: Variable speed 1 HP, US 110-115 Volt, 60 Hz, single phase (7.5 Amps) for 8-/10-gallon; 220 Volt, 50 Hz option available for International use.
- Construction: Main body: 304 #4 brushed food-grade stainless steel, 12-14 gauge. Lid: 16 gauge 304 stainless, sloped 2° & fitted with sight glass cap.
- Clean-out: Removable paddle/screw shaft assembly, front tri-clamp wash-out valve with elbow.
- The mixing paddles are made from 12-gauge 304 Stainless Steel, welded to a 304 Stainless Steel rod, which is then capped at each end to form a seamless, smooth, polished one-piece unit.
The paddle unit is completely removable from the churn for cleaning and sanitizing. A food-grade UMMW bearing slides out the front through a food-grade sanitary tri-clamp removable connector welded on the front of the main body. The rear of the paddle unit has a Stainless-Steel plate welded to the end of the rod, which mates with a two-prong Stainless-Steel plate welded to the end of the motor shaft. When the paddles are removed, the plates are fully accessible for cleaning and sanitizing.
The motor shaft is made of stainless steel and fitted with two food-grade O-rings to prevent the cream from running back into the shaft housing, which extends through the rear of the churn body.
Drainage/Washout: A secondary tri-clamp connector is welded to the front of the churn. This connector is equipped with a sanitary food-grade 1-1/2” butterfly valve and elbow for easier washout. The valve and elbow parts disassemble for cleaning and sanitizing. The lid is not equipped with an interlock switch to turn the machine off when the lid is open; therefore, it can be removed during washout procedures while the churn is running at a slow speed. Operator caution and safety must be exercised to keep sleeves and hands clear, and to operate the machine only at slow speeds during washout while the lid is removed.
- Lead time: Each churn is custom-built to order; manufacturing + shipping 6-8 weeks (8-10 weeks in peak season).
- Installation & Support
Upon delivery, your churn arrives in a crate and is ready for installation. It is wired for direct connect; an electrical plug-on site is optional. For international deployment, a 220 Volt 50 Hz controller and motor are available (buyers are advised to coordinate with a US-forwarding agent for overseas logistics).
The churn meets the USDA and 3-A Sanitary Standards for dairy equipment, § § 58.128, 58.316 / 58.317. Since these are only guidelines for the materials and construction of dairy equipment, you should consult your local dairy inspector for review and approval before purchasing.
