Description / Scaled Buckboard wagons
These wagons are custom-built to order, with a 6-12 week lead time for shipping.
These wagons may be fitted with actual wooden shafts to be pulled by a small animal(s). The wagons are already equipped with metal gear bracing. Optional hand brakes are recommended.
To be pulled by an animal, you will also want to upgrade to wooden spoke wheels. It is also recommended to upgrade to greaseable wheel bushings or roller bearings if the wagon is to be used routinely as a working wagon.
A spring suspension option is also available.
Buckboard wagons are made from ash, hickory, and the bottom is made of poplar. The attention to detail, down to the routed design on the box panels, is just incredible. An optional pinstripe accent can highlight this area.
Wood options include rough-cut or premium-grade smooth lumber.
We offer two box sizes, our X-Large box measures 60" long x 30-1/2” wide and 11” high. Wheelbase is 72" hub to hub and 49" wide hub to hub outside.
Giant size box measures 78" long, 37” wide, and 12” high. Wheelbase is 94" hub to hub, and the width is 61-1/2" hub to outside hub.
These are box sizes that do not include the height of the wheels.
Both wagons have 28" rear wheels and 24" front wheels.
These larger sizes require truck freight and are sold F.O.B. from Pennsylvania. Please see the shipping details below.
Price begins with the X-Large Buckboard, unfinished, rustic, rough-cut, with metal wheels. As options are selected from the drop-down boxes, prices adjust incrementally in addition to the price above.
Finish options are unfinished as priced. You may add finish options for the wagon: stained, varnished, or painted. You may also select a two-step process: have it stained, then varnished. The stain will be an exterior-grade finish wood stain.
Varnish or paint options include two coats of marine-grade varnish or a coat of primer followed by a coat of paint. Select options and stain and paint colors using the drop-down boxes. Wood options include rough-cut or premium-grade smooth lumber. You may also add a pinstripe and a two-tone paint option. Please indicate in the comment box at checkout where you would like the two-tone option applied. Example: Box red and wheels varnished natural.
Price begins with the rough cut. The rough cut is smooth lumber that will suffice for most outdoor applications. The surface may have a few rough spots caused by blade chatter from the planner. Premium grade is ideal for finished store displays and other indoor uses where you want a high-end look.
The buckboard wagon is priced with all metal wheels. You may upgrade to wooden spoke wheels, as pictured, or to wood-spoke tires with rubber tires.
Shipping is not included in the price. This item must be shipped by truck freight from Pennsylvania.
To ship to a commercial address on the East Coast and Midwest, we estimate $600-700+. To ship to the West Coast, we estimate $925-$1200+.
These wagons are custom-built per order, allowing 6-12 weeks for shipping.
