Description / Refurbished Maytag Washer Wringer Head
Please expect 2-4 weeks for shipping, as some heads will need to be refurbished to allow the paint to dry.
The old Maytag wringer washers were so well-made that people are still using them for weekly home laundry. Because they clean so well, many organizations use them in the workplace to launder rags, chamois, uniforms, and more. Some have even abandoned their modern automatic washers and are scouring antique stores and thrift shops for one of these old laundry machines, because of the short lifespan and high replacement cost of new machines.
The wringers have the most moving parts and are often either missing entirely or in such poor condition that replacement is more economical.
The Amish use old wringer washers in their off-grid, self-sufficient lifestyle, converting them to gas-powered or air-powered motors. As they scour the countryside for more washing machines to supply growing Amish families, they often find units that have tubs that are rusted through, so they rescue and rebuild the wringer heads.
Several companies made wringer washing machines, but Maytag was the most popular and remains popular today in Amish communities.
