Installation & Performance Tips

• Mount the house 12-20 feet off the ground on a building wall or sturdy pole to ensure bats have room to drop into flight. 

• Face the bat house east or south to capture 6-8 hours of direct sunlight—this helps regulate internal temperature and encourages occupancy. 
  

• Avoid mounting on trees if possible—branches obstruct flight paths and increase predator risk. Trees also provide shade, reducing the appeal to bats. 
  

• Be patient: new bat houses can take 2-6 months or more to get tenants, depending on nearby colonies and habitat—place near water or insect-rich zones for faster results.
