Ornamental Buckboard Wagon Plans & Wheels
The CCW buckboard wagon plans and wheels allow you to build a cute miniature replica buckboard wagon for ornamental yard displays or to use as functional store displays. Use reclaimed lumber or new lumber.
The wagon in the pictures was built using treated lumber for outdoor use. Buckboard wagons were popular in the horse-and-buggy era as the primary means of transport for families and supplies. Today, ornamental buckboard wagon replicas bring back those nostalgic times.

Description / Ornamental Buckboard Wagon Plans & Wheels
The Kit includes the plans, metal wheels, and axles to build a 48” long x 24” wide x 25” tall ornamental replica of an old-fashioned buckboard wagon. The overall width measured from the outside of the wheels will be approximately 32”, and the overall length including the wheels and folded tongue will be approximately 56”. The overall width and length may be adjusted to meet your specific space requirements.
This is not a complete hardware package. You will need to bend and drill the brackets from the flat steel stock listed in the material list obtained at your local hardware store. This flat stock is easy to bend, as shown in the plans. You will receive two 16” and two 24” metal eight-spoke wheels, four-axle stubs, cotter keys and washers, and the plans. You will need to purchase the lumber, bolts, nuts, screws, and 1/8” x 1” x 36” flat steel stock to make the tongue and seat brackets. The plans do include a basic material list. The wheels and axles ship unpainted, in raw metal, so you can let them weather naturally with the wood or paint them.
Unique bolt-on axle stubs allow the wagon to be made to any width. Some bending and drilling of metal strips will be required for the brackets. Some basic woodworking tools and skills will be required to interpret the plans and transfer measurements for building your buckboard wagon.
Plans provide two old-fashioned tailgate options: either a tie-rod or a side-bracket support.
Wagon gear assembles like an old-fashioned wagon, and the wagon box then fits on top. Be as creative as you want by adding a canvas-covered wagon or by building sides and a top to replicate an old-fashioned delivery wagon.
Add an optional rubber tire coating to the wheel rims. The rubber option is a game-changer for building display carts that will be rolled out and in for display on concrete and other floor surfaces, reducing noise and the risk of marring floors. (This will be a thin rubber coating and not a thick rubber tire. )
Please note: While the wheels are sturdy, they are not recommended for carrying passengers. They are recommended for ornamental purposes and for use on hand push cultivators and other implements. The buckboard wagon is not recommended to be used as a miniature pony cart.
The hardware is made in a small one-man shop. Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipping.
