The "Homesteader" is a single-tub cider or wine press with the same basic frame and press screw assembly as our double-tub model. It is designed as an all-purpose fruit press that efficiently grinds and squeezes apples, grapes, and other fruits and vegetables. (Pictured with optional wheel kit)
The "Apple Eater" grinding attachment is conveniently mounted on the back of the press - allowing the "pulped" fruit to fall directly into the tub for squeezing. Mount it independently of the press, allowing both press and grinding operations to run simultaneously!

Technical Specifications:
FRAME:Â The frame is constructed of rugged laminated hardwood. All joints are dadoed and cross-bolted for complete structural rigidity.
WOOD FINISH: ALL PRESSES COME UNFINISHED! You will need to protect it with varnish, lacquer, Poxy Coating, or EZ-DO Polyurethane Gel.
SCREW:Â The Acme-threaded press screw is 1 1/2" in diameter, 22" long, and passes through a heavy cast-iron cross arm. The pressure is applied to a reinforced press disc that fits inside the tub. Attached to the bottom of the screw is a cast-iron foot that distributes the pressure to the press disc. It is recommended that you apply a small amount of lubricant to the screw and the inside of the pressure foot. See our Petro-Gel Lubricant.
TUBS:Â The hardwood tub has beveled staves for easy cleaning. It is 12" high and 13 1/2" in diameter, banded with heavy steel hoops. The capacity is equivalent to a box of "pulped" apples. One juice rack is included with each Homesteader.
GRINDER: The 5 1/2" diameter epoxy-coated laminated wood drum has eight serrated stainless steel knives. The specially designed grinding box is all cast iron. The operation is made smooth, fast, and easy by an 18 lb. cast-iron flywheel attached to the grinding shaft.

Select an optional wheel kit. Tip the press forward and drop the 8" wheels in place. Pull the press back toward you, and the wheels automatically lock into place. Makes moving the press easy, even down steps and over rough ground.Â
Select an optional wooden hopper. Holds 40 pounds of apples, making grinding easier and faster. You need not push the apples down; you will get a better grind with the steady flow of fruit into the grinder.Â
