Description / Hobby Farm No Boil Maple Syrup Finishing Cooker
Note: These cookers will not generate the type of heat required to quickly cook down batches of raw sap. They are more for taking syrup that has already been cooked on an evaporator through the finishing and bottling process. If you are already cooking small home batches of sap in a stovetop pan on a gas stove then the process will be near the same without the chance of it boiling.
Â
The canner holds approximately 16 gallons. A perfect size to keep up with our wood-fired evaporators. USA Amish made by the Sunrise Metal Company using 20 Gauge 304 welded Stainless Steel. The canner features a "V" bottom for easier draining of syrup and a removable stainless screen filter tray. The water jacket holds approximately 2 gallons with its own drain valve.
Â
The filter tray holds both a pre-filter and the main filter. We offer washable filters in 3 x 3 cut-to-fit sizes. Select optional filters using the drop-down boxes at the bottom of the page. The pre-filter is changed more often so it is packaged x 2.
Â
A water jacket gas-fired canner is used to finish the maple syrup after it has been boiled down on a larger outdoor cooker. The water jacket holds a constant temperature without hot spots to filter and then safely bottle until the last drop. Â This type of finish cooker allows for steady temperatures without the risk of hot spots and boilovers.
Keeping the temperature at the safe bottling temperature between 180-190 F is difficult with a standard canner. By not allowing the syrup to boil again reduces sugar sand build up a common frustration in the final phase of maple syrup production.Â
Â
The three-burner stand is made of stainless steel measures 12 x 32 x 32. Comes with a regulator and 5' of hose. Produces 45,000 BTU (The cast iron burner is imported)
We also have standard cookers in two and three burners without the water jacket or "V" bottom. These are multipurpose cookers that can be used just above the boiling point for small batches of maple syrup as well as for canning and hot water cooking. Click Here to see all our cookers.
