Made of 1” .090 thick welded aluminum tubing. Square tubing is much stronger than round tubing of comparable size.
This is just one of those Amish products that are just engineered way over the top to be used for generations without regard to cost. All USA-made, just like things were being built in the early 1900s.

The self-sustaining Amish rely on garden tools that last a lifetime in extensive family gardens. The Amish don’t have any time for foolishness in flimsy imported products that fall apart or break when they are in the middle of the prime garden season. When that occurs, they make things on their own, as with this hose reel.
This attention to detail, materials, and overall quality provides a great hose reel for commercial nurseries, landscape companies, municipalities, factories, and typical homeowners who also want quality-made products.
Easy-rolling 12” flat-free wheels allow for Amish women and children who do most of the gardening and livestock chores to roll across gardens and rough barnyards.
Replaceable Acetal poly bearings and double O-ring seal. The O-rings seat in a 3/4" O.D., thick-wall pipe with grooves to hold them. The pipe is about 2" long and sits just inside the inlet connector. The thick wall needed to keep the O-rings does drop the ID in that short pipe down to about 3/8", which one customer felt might restrict the flow. We've had no complaints about the flow and have one personally that we use in the yard, garden, and to run our 3400 PSI pressure washer. Most garden hose connectors and domestic faucets have similar restrictive parts that water must pass through for a short distance.
The wall mount has two welded flat aluminum bars with two holes in each to accept lag bolts for securing to a wall or solid surface.
Hose reel ships oversized dimensional weight in a 20-1/2” x 24” x 24” box weighing 23 lbs. The handle will need to be bolted on, the wheels and axle assembled for the cart mount model, and the hose screwed on.
