Description / Deluxe Humane Repeating Sparrow Trap
Some minor assembly will be required.
Improved from the original repeating sparrow trap that we have sold for many years. An elevated bait tray for English House Sparrows to easily spot, as well as providing easier filling of bait over the previous trap.
The teeter-totter elevator is also improved to operate more efficiently. The Lexan and aluminum one-way door prevents sparrows from outsmarting the trap and escaping.
Two holding compartments, including a traditional open cage and an additional enclosed holding compartment, allow trapped birds to seek shelter, reducing stress in the open cage. Both compartments have access doors for adding water and food dishes, and for removing sparrows for catch-and-release, or for placing the trap in a plastic trash bag and spraying it with starter fluid for humane disposal.
The wood is now all treated and water-resistant, allowing you to use the trap in more exposed areas than with the previous pine lumber boxes.
Carry handle to transport the trap.
Place a small amount of cracked corn or cheap birdseed on the removable aluminum bait tray. (A long-handled serving spoon works great to reach into the feed tray). When your pest sees a potential feast, they will enter and quickly ride the counterbalanced elevator down to the holding chamber before they realize what happened to their greedy quest.
The trap is made of heavy-gauge mesh and treated wood. Measures 25" x 16" x 6". Some minor assembly of the bait tray compartment will be needed.
We have used this type of trap for years to rid sparrows from our property; it works amazingly well.
Note: The trap is very effective with sparrows and is being used around barns, airplane hangars, and so forth. However, it's more challenging to catch older sparrows year-round. It is most effective catching the younger sparrows in the spring, but as they grow older, they become more intelligent and wiser. Different areas may need to be tested to find the most effective catch area. Placing the trap slightly elevated near a shady area seems to work the best.
