Crimped or machine-rolled oats have been reported to provide better equine nutrition while making the equine digestion process easier over standard oats.
Rolled oats go further as well. Those feeding rolled oats have noticed up to 30% less feed consumption making a very quick return on investment.

Description / Wall Mounted Equine Oat Crimper Roller Mill
Our roller mills provide heavy-duty rollers, bearings, gearing, and frame construction for a price that is simply hard to find. Features hardened 3” x 4” grooved steel rollers and heavy-duty frame construction.
A compact 24” wide x 13” deep x 29” tall wall-mounted unit takes up little space in smaller stable operations.
The CCW model #2WM can be used for both Oats and Spelt. It is not recommended for Barley or Corn. See our CCW3 model for Barley and Corn.
Made to last with powder powder-coated frame and galvanized hopper to complement the heavy-duty construction for years of service.
The crimper utilizes a ½ HP motor capable of crimping 50 lbs. of oats in approximately 10 minutes. Note: The electric motor is not explosion-proof rated and should not be used in confined high dust milling operations.
On average one horse will consume 5 lbs. of oats; thus, you can calculate your herd crimp time. This unit has a hopper that will hold a 5-gal. bucket of oats and works best with hobby ranches with up to 12 heads. See our CCW3 Roller Mill for large-scale operations of 12+ horses.
The crimping process breaks open the hard-protective outer shell allowing the nutritious soft inside to be better absorbed before passing through the digestive system.
Freshly rolled oats allow the nutritional value to be consumed when it is right at the peak. Oats rolled in a processing plant and then bagged for shipment will lose some of the nutritional aspects.
For those who have been purchasing crimped or rolled oats to feed to horses, you will be happy to learn of the oat crimpers from Cottage Craft Works that can be used right in the stable.
Those who are currently purchasing rolled oats in the bag are probably paying an additional $2-$3 for a 50 lb. bag over a year’s time that can really add up.
