Off-Grid Non-Electric High Speed Blender Food Processor
Be envious at your next tailgate party using the Amish conversion hand crank blender.
Living off the grid or enjoying the outdoors can be challenging for those who want to whip up a blended beverage or have the need to puree foods for adults and babies.
The tool battery blenders serve this purpose well, but they are limited in power and require constant battery recharge.
We found three Amish conversion blenders to fulfill most of the off-grid applications. They are a ¼” hex shaft model, as priced, to use with a drill, an air-powered model, and a hand crank model.

Description / Off-Grid Non-Electric High Speed Blender Food Processor
Please note these are conversion blenders from electric models that will no longer function on electricity. The buttons have been disabled and will no longer control the blender. That is controlled solely by the power source that you are using, be it a drill, air compressor or by hand cranking.
The first as-priced specialty blender has a ¼” hex shaft that can be used with a battery drill, or adapted to run off a DC motor, flex shaft, bicycle, or another power source that creative homesteaders might develop.
The air power is popular in Amish homes as they power their workshops with large diesel-powered air compressors and store the air in used LP tanks so they can run a line to the kitchens for air-powered appliances. It does take a large capacity CFM commercial garage type of air compressor to run a consistent air pressure between 115 to 135 PSI for air tools and appliances, plus they are noisy.
The hand crank is probably the most practical for heavy use but is also the most expensive because of the gearing mechanism. These have no comparison in quality to the cheap plastic crank blenders marketed to tail gaiters and outdoor campers. Those might be fine if they are used occasionally but for the daily grind you will need something much more dependable. The hand crank offers two speeds selected by a joystick. The high-speed cranks at a ratio of 27 to 1 revolution, and the low-speed cranks at 8 to 1 revolution. To chop ice, you would start at a low speed and then switch to the high speed to finish your smoothy.
Each blender will be shipped in the original box that it came in before being converted. It will include the original manual as well as safety instructions. The original buttons on the front of the blender are disabled and are no longer applicable to the instructions.
These blenders carry a 1-year warranty.
