Country Ice Cream Freezers are Amish handcrafted, just like the old-time ice cream makers made in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Homemade ice cream churning in one of these old-fashioned freezers is sure to bring back memories.  

Country Freezers are made from rustproof parts. The white oak wood tub is complete with stainless adjustable bands. The mixer has an extra-heavy-duty stainless steel seamless can and heavy-duty zinc-alloy gear drives. 

These are double-acting mixers that thoroughly incorporate air into the ice cream. The 2-qt to 8-qt models are hand-crank.

We selected these mixers for their high-quality construction, using all-American-made parts. We found one of the most popular freezers on the market, using imported gears. We also appreciated that these wooden freezer tubs are made of white oak. White oak has been the standard wood for centuries for making barrels and other wooden containers for liquids, thanks to its long-term durability. Additionally, three stainless steel adjustable bands are used, while the competitor still uses galvanized steel. These bands are in constant contact with salt and rust quickly. They also do not adjust, should the tub staves dry out and leak after long periods of storage.

As with all wooden tub ice cream freezers, the wooden tub must be maintained to prevent wood shrinkage in dry environments, and it must not be stored in hot, dry garages or attics, as this can cause shrinkage that leads to leakage. If the container is used only periodically, establish a routine to fill it with water to keep the staves moist. The manufacturer does not warrant that the ice cream freezer tubs are free from leakage. Typically, filling with hot water will cause the staves to fit tightly again and stop leakage.

Note: Country Freezers frequently use different spinner handles on their different hand-crank freezers. The freezer may include a plastic or wooden spinner. The smaller sizes may only include a solid handle.

The unit will come with grease in the gearbox. Use the drop-down box at the top of the page to add a 14-oz tube of food-grade grease for the gearbox for ongoing lubrication every 10-15 uses. The tube fits a regular grease gun.
