Authentic USA Hand Push Garden Cultivator
Our authentic Amish hand-push garden cultivators are built with 54” steam bent white oak handles. White oak is an old-time hardwood rarely used in today’s hand tools because of the limited supply of white oak lumber. The handles are adjustable to 37”, 39” and 40-1/2”. The Amish women and children do most of the home chores and gardening thus, it is important that the garden cultivators be built easy to push and are height adjustable for shorter people. The handle width at 20” gives a comfortable arm and hand positioning allowing less fatigue.
All the metal hardware is powder-coated. The five tines are made of strong 7/16” square steel. A 23” wheel gives an easier turning radius.

Some call this a high-wheel walk-behind garden cultivator. It is a replica of the vintage garden cultivators that many grew up with. The problem with those high wheel cultivators being sold in farm and discount stores is that they have been cheapened down to appeal to the weekend warriors that would like to get into home gardening. Thus, the price for ours might look ridiculously high but ours are built by the Amish who are serious sustainable living gardeners for large families.
While those others will likely be headed to the landfill in about 10 years, ours will likely be in the hands of the next generations. The Amish just build things to last and don’t try to figure out how to squeeze profit margins and build in planned obsolescence.
Assembly will be required.
A plow and furrow option is in the works but is not currently available.
